On Episode 15 of Longmont Politics we talked about RTD being “stunned” by BNSF’s price tag for the northwest rail line and FasTracks imminent demise in Longmont.  Also, a fracking ban will possibly be on the November ballot, which was read during the show, along with some pieces on Longmont Politics’ blog about fracking and this anti-fracking movement.

LP014: The public sounds off to council, and voter ID laws

On Episode 14 of Longmont Politics, we condensed 2 hours of public testimony at the May 22nd Longmont City Council meeting about oil/gas regulations down to about 25 minutes.  “Exceptional benefit”, aka the McCoy Annexation Extortion Scheme, was done away with at this meeting as well.  Longmont Area Dems (@longmontdems) goes on the attack of those they disagree with, and fraudulently pretending to hyperlink to this site – Longmont Politics.  Notice how we actually link to them, unlike them we’re not afraid of the competition, as unhinged as it is in this case. Finally I further expanded on my Times-Call letter about voter ID requirements.

Anti-frackers fret early

The anti-frackers exaggerated fears for our cities.

It seems a foolish play for Longmont’s anti-frackers to have a total fracking ban placed on the ballot this November.

First, they are showing their hand too early with this petition drive.  If I were city council and staff, I’d emphasize that a painstaking effort has taken place for months to come up with a compromise that best serves Longmont.  Working issues are still on the table. Continue reading…
